Choosing your Source of Online Income
When choosing a product or service to promote on the internet, it is usually better to go with a topic which you’re either familiar with or have a strong interest in. This helps in keeping you motivated and also makes it easier to talk about the topic, and show belief in the product or service to your customers. Once you’ve decided on a topic you can then decide whether you want to create your own product (e.g. Write an eBook on your speciality or maybe your own invention), generate income from offering advertising space online or sell someone else’s product.
Selling Someone Else’s Product
The biggest benefit of selling someone else’s product is that depending on the product and how long it’s been around for, you will straight away have a possible well known and established product.
In order to be able to sell someone else’s product you can either acquire the rights to a product or you can join their affiliate program. In acquiring the rights to a product you can buy this off the creator for a price or you could possible trade them with rights to your product, either way there is an initial start up cost, which can be expensive depending on the product. This initial outlay can be worth it though because it may give you a unique product and a higher profit margin for every sale.
While an affiliate program may give you a smaller profit margin for each sale, it is probably the easiest, fastest and most cost effective way to get started on the internet and generate an income online. With generally little to no start-up cost and no risk it is usually the most common starting point for many internet entrepreneurs.
Create your own product or service
As opposed to selling someone else’s product you may have the ability to sell a product or service of your own. Such as your own invention, an eBook (e.g. Cookbook, how to book are popular) you have written or a subscription or a membership service you can offer. Whichever it may be, the benefit of this option is that you have control over the product, and you able to receive all the profits of any sales and depending on the uniqueness, necessity and quality of the product there is a better opportunity for you to dominate the market.
The obvious downside of this option is that it can take a lot of effort, maybe cost and time to get your name and product out there. Which is why this is commonly the option many entrepreneurs pursue after the have achieved success through selling someone else’s product.
Offer Advertising Space
Offering online advertising space is a very good source of online income if you happen to have a website with a lot of visitors. It is where Google gets a majority of their revenue. There are a number of ways to open your web space to advertises, the most common way to get started is to find an online ad management program such as Google Adsense which is a free service. Once your site grows and becomes more popular you’ll probably find that other websites will start approaching you to request to advertise on your site.
