Curse of the Dreaded Blog Writer’s Block
A phenomenon that clouds every writer including bloggers at some point of time is the famous or infamous writer’s block. It hits you without any respect to your standing and expertise as a writer. Irrespective of the language you write in and the areas you specialise in, the writer’s block shows no mercy to anyone.
Does that mean that we are all slaves to whims and fancies of writer’s block? Even though denied for its very existence by many, the writer’s block does strike all writers and strikes at will. Sorry for the dramatisation there.
But the good news is that it not something that is shrouded with mysteries. It exists and has its own solutions to allow it to be overcome. The only issue is to know how it can be taken care of and all the blocks can be comfortably unblocked.
Time Management
Something that you may not have thought of but perhaps is the easiest way to handle the writer’ block is to manage your time properly as far as writing is concerned. You can decide the time lines when you are going to write and when you would spend your time with something else. Scheduling the whole exercise of writing would not only take care of the writer’s block but would also ensure that you can finish whatever project you undertake in time.
Enjoy the Writing
It just might sound cliché but nothing beats writer’s block like enjoying the whole process of writing. There is always a tendency to start taking too much load on oneself. Being too hard on yourself can only worsen the things. Writing being high on creativity demands relaxed mind and cool approach. It is only when you enjoy the writing that the real talent can come out and the writer’ block would never even come closer to you.
Introduce Flexibility
To keep working on a particular project with similar kind of writing can also be a major cause behind writer’s block. If you introduce flexibility in your approach by simultaneously working on multiple projects that deal in different domains then you can always switch from one to other kind of writing. This ensures that your writing won’t become stale, you won’t lose focus and the writer’s block would not be able to get to your nerves.
Take Breaks
In spite of all the care taken there can still be issues regarding writer’s block. Long and continuous writing sprees can do you more harm than good. Not only you may be attacked by the writer’s block, but it may even tell upon your health. You must make taking breaks an essential part of your writing schedules. A timely break can do you a lot good than you can imagine.
In addition to above introduced approaches you should also always keep your balance, cool your nerves, don’t take up too much of work, never panic and keep a healthy balance between allowing things to flow and reigning in things as and when required.
