Mindset of a Successful Blogger

by Arren in July 1st, 2009
Topics: Blogging     Tags: Blogging, Blogging Mindset, Successful Blogger

Blogging may come across as something that anyone can do, which can’t be denied. As a matter of fact that is one thing that has been the fundamental reason behind the immense popularity of the medium, that and the option to freely voice one’s opinion.

But there are two kinds of bloggers, successful and lazy. And if there are different kinds then there must be various reasons behind that being so. The first thing that acts as the biggest differentiator is the mindset of the one who is a successful blogger.

What Differentiates a Successful Blogger

If you have the intention to become a successful blogger then you have to know what goes on inside the mind of one who already is one. It is the mindset of the blogger that makes all the difference to the outcome that can be expected from the whole exercise.
A successful blogger has the right kind of mindset, the ideal one that can guarantee the success of the blogs.

  • The first thing that a successful blogger gets right is to have the right attitude and the right approach. Once they ensure this, then the only thing left is walking the path.
  • The biggest plus point of the successful blogger is the clear thought process through which they operate. They know what they want and why they are blogging. Once the mind is clear the rest will follow.

Mindset of Successful Blogger

  • There is a particular way things work in any environment and the same is true for the web world too. But one who is a successful blogger knows pretty well their way around the virtual world. They know what needs to be done and what is to be avoided.
  • A Successful Blogger is not afraid of exploring the uncharted territory. They don’t give undue importance to things that may be irrelevant. They always stick to their main goal.
  • A Successful Blogger is smart and acts smart. They play on their qualities and don’t let their weaknesses bog them down.
  • A very important part of blogging is to know what the target audience wants. Your blogs should be aligned to the needs and wants of the people that you hope will read them. If that is not ensured then your effort will not bear fruit.
  • One more thing that is essential to be a successful blogger is to adopt a flexible approach that will hold well when the going is getting tough.
  • There is a target that propels a successful blogger to channelize their resources towards realisation of that goal. For that they are always ready to make compromises that would help reach the target.
  • The hallmark of a successful blogger is patience, the virtue that makes every successful person so. They are ready to wait till they get what they desire.
  • One thing that would be a part of the successful blog is the higher stress on making the blog interactive. The viewers visiting your blog must have the option to leave comments and voice their reactions and opinions too.
  • A blogger knows that to be successful it is absolutely essential to build and develop a network among other bloggers through the blogging community.

A successful blogger becomes successful by having a unique mindset of their own it is this very mindset that would get the blogger to the destination successfully and without hindrances.

Benefits Of Buying Expired Domain Names

by Arren in June 29th, 2009
Topics: Domain Name     Tags: buying expired domains, expired domain

People move on in life and that’s very much true with the life on internet as well. The outcome of that being many domains names that existed earlier expire. The good thing is there are lots of expired domain names that can be of great advantage to you.

Expired Domain Name

Buying an expired domain name might seem like an avoidable exercise but had you known the benefits that it can bring to you, you would have bought one a long time ago. To avoid any kind of scepticism and also to help you make up your mind, let us name the pros of spending some money in buying the expired domain names.

Why Buy Expired Domain Name

An expired domain name can come with a package that can give you an already indexed URL, high ranked page, existing traffic and other benefits that can work wonders for you. The advantages of buying expired domain name include:

The very basic thing that you want for your website is lots of traffic. An expired domain name can offer that even before you have begun. Due to whatever reasons (we can talk about them some other time) there are domain names that have been attracting a lot of traffic. All you would need to do is buy one such expired domain name and be assured of the traffic.

The expired domain name you are buying may have traffic coming to it from earlier bookmarks or from existing links on some other sites. You can be sure of getting all that traffic to your site now.

One very significant aspect of buying expired domain name is that it may have very high search engine ranking. If that were the case then you will have higher visibility and your potential customers will find it easier to locate you through the search engines.

When you buy an expired domain name the links that were pointing to that domain would automatically get transferred to your site now.

The age of the domain name gives extra advantage to it than you would get with a new name. Age gives greater value to the domain names that you can exploit by picking the right expired domain name for you.

There is always a probability that the earlier owner may have done advertising and marketing that will pay dividends to you.

On a whole all the benefits of buying an expired domain name are transformed into higher volumes of traffic and easier targeting of the desired consumers, the very fundamental reason behind venturing into website creation.

Successful Internet Entrepreneur - Kevin Rose - Digg Founder

by Arren in June 24th, 2009
Topics: Internet Entrepreneur     Tags: digg founder, Internet Entrepreneur, Kevin Rose, successful

Black and White Kevin

Digg, the social-bookmarking website had been the harbinger of countless social networking sites that work in the domain of story submission as well as voting systems. No one realised that something that started out as more of an experiment in November 2004 would in no time revolutionise the way people discover and share content over the net.

Beginning

The idea had started taking root sometime in the middle of the 2004 but the actual work on the site started only in October. And in no time i.e. on 5th December, 2004 the unique site Digg was launched to the whole world.

Born on 21 February 1977 in the state of California, US, Kevin Rose is recognised as the founder of and chief architect at Digg. He was also the one who had insisted on naming the site Digg instead of originally decided name of “Diggnation.” The name though was eventually adopted by Rose for his co-hosted weekly podcast. Diggnation, the podcast, focuses on different stories which have been popular on Digg.

Growth

Over the years many changes were made to the site to make it more advanced and refined. The year 2006 was very significant as version 3 of Digg was released around the midyear, in the month of June. It was this version that came out with specific categories for World & Business, Entertainment, Technology, Gaming, etc. Digg has inspired many a site as far as concept is considered but none has been able to match its service quality and popularity. Digg in fact attracts around 250 million visitors every year.

Diversification

Kevin Rose also had stints with other professions including television. He worked for The Screen Savers as a technical production assistant. He had become a well recognised face as a co-host on the same show. Interestingly it was only during this show that he developed the urge to do something new and big, which eventually came out as Digg.

With time Kevin Rose went on to launch various internet start-ups. He founded WeFollow and co-founded Pownce and Revision3. It was in the year 2007 that Rose along with Culver, Burk and Allen launched Pownce, a social networking and micro-blogging site, another feather in his cap. Pownce was initially a by invite only site but in January 2008 it was opened to public. By that time the site had become so popular that the invites were rumoured to being sold over the net. In the month of December the same year it was sold to Six Apart.

Recognition

The year that followed 2008, was quite significant for Rose as he was included in the top 25 most influential people on the web, the list brought out by Time Magazine. For someone who dropped out of computer-science from the University of Nevada (Las Vegas) it was a great honour. As a matter of fact ever since he had formed Digg, Rose has featured on the covers of various magazines including Business Week and Inc.

Rose has been an outstanding and a very successful internet entrepreneur. He may be young but he is already an inspiration for many across the world.

Be Unique In Your Web Business Marketing

by Arren in June 22nd, 2009
Topics: Advertising     Tags: business marketing, internet marketing, SEO, web business marketing, web marketing

Web Business MarketingThe need for marketing for any business is the very cornerstone on which the success of that business is based. When it comes to web business the significance rises by leaps and bounds. And at times when everyone seems to know the way around, it becomes absolutely essential to adopt unique web business marketing strategies.

In fact any web business howsoever common it may be, can be made different and beat the competitors if it is being promoted through a marketing approach that is able to catch viewer’s attention. The opportunities that web offers are plenty as far as marketing your web business is concerned but there is always a chance of falling into things that are too common and mundane.

Need for Unique Web Business Marketing

Customers are very demanding and choosy about the services they use and products they buy. In such a scenario, if your marketing moves are not able to generate the curiosity of the target audience than you can safely assume the probability of bad business and worse revenues.

When the need is to survive in the highly competitive and constantly changing world of business, the only and the safest option is to outsmart your competitors by adopting your own unique web business marketing strategy.

Unique Web Business Marketing

There are lots of marketing options that are useful for web businesses but none can come to your rescue if you choose to follow the common path. The answer to the conundrum lies in the different marketing approach that projects you distinctly in the eyes of the targeted customers.

  • Web 2.0: The most innovative way to market your business is to explore the world of Web 2.0. There are options galore and every other is good enough to be explored and too important to be missed. Adopt the Social Media Marketing completely. Use blog posts, podcasts, and press releases as extensively and frequently as you can. Web 2.0 has proved to be the saviour of many and it will turn your web business around too.
  • SEO: Nothing can beat the advantages that SEO (search engine optimisation) ensures. Your website or any web post can get the right kind of traffic with desired volume only if you have made sure that they all have, first the relevant keywords and phrases, and second the optimum keyword density is maintained. If you have got the SEO right, you’ll find yourself rising in search engines, and the need for costly marketing may be significantly reduced.
  • Pay Per Click Marketing: One option that may form an essential part of your web business marketing approach is the pay per click (PPC) marketing. The sponsored links and ads help tremendously especially if you have got the websites that will display them right. Just be sure about choosing the right PPC provider, and don’t go in to strong as it can get very costly if you’re not yet sure what you’re doing.

When you go about the process of web business marketing you need to bear in mind the cut throat competition that exists and hence the urgency in ensuring unique and thorough marketing strategy. The title of a great book I read recently by Jason Jennings which I also think makes a great quote is ”It’s Not the Big That Eat the Small…It’s the Fast That Eat the Slow.”

Why Have Permalinks For Your Blog

by Arren in June 19th, 2009
Topics: SEO     Tags: blog posts, Permalink, Permalinks, SEO

If you are blogger then obviously you must have written more than a couple of posts, right? The way different blogging platforms and software work means that usually the more recent posts you made would be shown at the front page of your blog and rest would move to archive.

In simpler words there are no specific URLs to your separate posts that have become the victim of dynamic web pages. This is where permalinks step in. Permalink or simply permanent link is true to its name and is the URL of the specific blog pages and posts that have moved to the background and joined archives.

Give Permanence to Blog Posts

The reason behind adopting the permalinks is to give permanency to every article you ever posted on the web world. The specific URL that is assigned to the post has uniqueness to it making it easily recognisable and devoid of any confusion.

The permalinks are also used to give specific URLs to not just the blog posts but also in case of different categories and others. The unchanging nature of the permalinks makes them a necessity.

Nicer Permalinks

The post usually picks a URL on its own i.e. default permalink. Such permalinks are not very appealing in the sense they are not easily recognisable and have very low recall value let alone SEO. But that is not an issue as most of the blogging platforms give you the option to pick the URL you want for your permalinks.

Pretty Permalinks

Nicer permalinks make your whole blog post appear prettier. It also ensures some level of versatility to the post as well.

Utility:

  • Having permalinks to posts becomes necessary when the content or categories are likely to be linked to from other sources and articles.
  • The permalinks enable easier manageability of increased volume of content.
  • Even if there have been introduced changes in the internal database in terms of item rename, moving or changing, the permalink would not change.
  • They ensure easier link tracing in the context of blog posts. Also, permalinks help in managing and referring to any particular post in RSS, Atom Syndication, etc.

The permalinks work wonders with your blog posts and are fast becoming the necessary part of the blogger and the like. The need for permalinks is well accepted by the designers and makers of different blogging software. All of the popular software creators though are yet to arrive at some common standard format that may be accepted across the market.

Interestingly all the different permalinks essentially do the same job but every other service provider has a solution of its own to offer. These are easy to operate and all get the desired results too.

The importance of having an “About Me” page

by Arren in June 17th, 2009
Topics: Web Business Success     Tags: About me, page, website purpose

Your website or your blog post serves as your link to the populace in the virtual world reflecting you, your personality, your business and purpose of your site. There is always some strong and clear vision as to the purpose of the website or the blog post. Even in that your web presence is very much defined by the ‘About Me’ page that is quintessential part of every website and post.

The need to have an ‘About Me’ page is dependent on many factors and at times makes the page more important than the core web content itself, to some extent at least. If you were to assess why this page is so important, a cursory look at any of the existing ‘About Me’ pages of other sites would give you enough insight into the significance of the same.

An ‘About Us’ becomes important for lots and lots of reasons but there are some that override the others to a large extent. Some of the more significant aspects that make the page important can be listed as.

  • Introduces You: The very idea behind the ‘About Me’ page is to allow the viewers to get to know you or your website. Once you have introduced yourself, your background, expertise, etc, the viewer gets a better idea about the website or the blog post. If you have included your picture/image then it becomes more personalised and makes a better impact.
  • Builds Credibility: In fact the credibility of the website or the post is very much contingent on the profile of the person behind the post. Through ‘About Me’ page you not only showcase yourself but also help viewers make informed choices. A better informed viewer would always trust you and come back to you as and when the need arises.
  • Reflects Thought: It is the ‘About Me’ where you will put your basic idea across to the viewers. The idea that is behind your web post, behind the business you are into, the service you are offering and the like. You need to explain the ‘whys’ to the viewer to earn their trust and help them and yourself in the process.
  • Contact: When someone comes to your site or post there are bound to be some reactions and opinions being created. The viewer may want to get in touch with you for inquiring something or may want to give feedback. It is the ‘About Me’ page that includes your contact information, including email address, phone number, snail mail address, etc. It is the most interactive and useful part of the whole site or blog.

A neatly written and properly organised ‘About Me’ page is a must for any website or post irrespective of the target audience and business goals. It would be very much justifiable if you spent extra time and effort building your ‘About Me’ page.

Outsource For Leverage

by Arren in June 15th, 2009
Topics: Growing Business     Tags: leverage, outsource, Outsourcing

There are all kinds of issues that you encounter when you get down to work. Some of the most common ones are, work that you don’t have time to do and work that you don’t want to do. The basis of both may be different but the outcome is the same, you would rather not be doing ‘that work’. But that doesn’t solve the problem. As a matter of fact that compounds the problem. The work does need to be done. If you are not going to do it, then how will the work get done?

The easiest and best option is to outsource it. You can’t do it, so what, outsource and get someone else to do it. And you would be surprised that this is not just any viable option rather the perfect one.

Why Outsource Work

You pretty much know why you may have to outsource work. If it is not the overwork that is the reason then it is as simple as you not wanting to do the work.

If not for those two reason you may outsource the work to someone who can do it easily and do it better. It may also help with many other things as well.

Advantage Of Outsourcing

  • There are so many advantages of outsourcing that I am sure you would like to exercise the option even when neither of the two main reasons is working.
  • You can manage any amount of work with outsourcing helping you with any extra load.
  • If there is some work you are not particularly comfortable doing or are not interested in doing, let some else do it. In this way the work would get done and the quality would not suffer either.
  • Sometimes you need a specialist to do some particular work. Outsourcing gives you the option of getting the work done by someone who can do it better.
  • The cost is likely to get reduced if you outsourced your work. When you can save some money there is no reason why you should not.
  • It gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of assigning work and meeting the targets.
  • You can concentrate on the main projects or major areas of the project and outsource the others. This would help you channelize your resources in a better manner like working on growing business.
  • If you are involved in a work that might need round-the-clock service you can offshore the work. The time difference would help you in offering services to your client without any stress on your internal staff.

Outsourcing Experience

The widespread popularity of outsourcing the work has been possible as it has been an experience worth exploring for most of the people. There have been quite a few incidents where the things didn’t turn out as planned for the ones outsourcing their work. But that is something that can never be avoided, outsourcing or no outsourcing.

On a whole there is no doubt about the fact that outsourcing work offers you the most suitable way out to get the work you don’t like or don’t have time to do, done.

NO1 Google Ranking in 17 Hours

by Arren in June 12th, 2009
Topics: SEO     Tags: Google ranking, number one ranking

Just a quick post, to share my recent achievement, I was challenged by one of my friends recently to rank number one in Google for a category of their choice. There was no specific keyword however I could not go more then a 3 words, and they had words that someone may actually search for.

Anyway the category they chose was Technology, as you could probably imagine probably not a very easy category to get into, however I decided to accept the challenge and got straight to work.

After about 30mins of keyword research I found the keyword, another 10mins I had my domain and another 5 mins I was hosted. I then installed a Wordpress blog and got some content up there with some keyword strategies in place. A total of just over an hour to setup.

The next morning I checked my website status and I was ranked number one in Google for my keyword term.

See the evidence below:

Google results
So there we go with just over an hour of work I was ranked number one in Google for my keyword, this is not to boast or anything its just to let you all know that its possible.
