Blogging really is one of the easiest ways for someone with barely any technical knowledge to get online and run their own website. Now why get online I hear you ask, well there could be any number of reasons why someone would even want to get online, my simply response is why not.
However, a blog for some can be a way to share their personal lives with the world, others may see it as a way to join in with the online community on a certain topic they enjoy or are knowledgeable in. Companies also use blogs to connect with their customers base and further promote and market their products. One of most common reasons though, with a combination of the above, is to make money online.
Why A Future In Internet Marketing
Why does a future in Internet Marketing look so bright, it seems to be the trend many are taking up more and more regularly these days. Even many with no real prior internet or technical knowledge are finding simple strategies to earn their dime online.
So is it the lifestyle that internet marketing gives, having the freedom to work where you want when you want with your only tool of the trade being a computer and an internet connection. This then again is becoming even easier still with access to an internet connection pretty much wherever you go and consistently improving technologies in laptops, netbooks and phones.
Benefits of Advertising on the Web
Online advertising can often be one of the most effective advertising methods in converting consumers into customers. Within the online advertising medium you have the ability to combine the benefits of brand, tactical and even direct response advertising. On top of this online advertising can also be extremely targeted, is easily measurable and quickly actionable.
Targetable Advertising
Online advertising is capable of being targeted in a way that is not seen with any other medium. Not only can you control who is able to see your ads, but you can also control when and where they are going to see them. Having the ability to uniquely target specific markets in a way and location they may desire can drastically increases the effectiveness of your ads, achieving greater results and a more improved return on investment.

Why Do People Fail At Adwords? – {via terrydean.org}
The majority of web business owners at least give Adwords a try at some point or another, and often the case is that campaigns are not very profitable, or can lose you a lot of money. Therefore, any tips on how to improve Adwords is always of benefit, and understanding why most people fail is a good place to start in my opinion.

Developing Your Websites Sales Experience
The most successful ecommerce websites on the web are the ones that make the shopping experience easy and fun and focus on enhancing customer relationships. Some have even gone as far as making the whole experience entertaining for customers.
The common tips I got from the some of the more successful websites was to make the sales experience convenient, keep it secure, emphasise customer service, provide variety and have competitive prices. In more detail:
Convenience
It is important to make the sales experience as convenient as possible, this can include making sure that your site is structured well and it easy to navigate. As well as providing easy access to relevant information such as product reviews, product descriptions, or any disclosure or policy statements.
Working Out Your Product Price
You have to admit that one of the difficult decisions that you may have to make when you have developed a product is what price you’re going to sell it for. The decision can be made a lot easier though by considering the following pricing objectives:
- What is your target return on investment for net sales
- Are there similar products in the market you need to compete with
- Do you want to maintain market share or increase it
- Do you block out the potential for new competitors to enter the market
- Do you want to maximise short or long term profits
- Do you want to prevent a loss-making situation
Although, looking into these further you can refine these pricing objectives into four basic business objectives.
Cooperative Web Business Strategies
In contrast to yesterdays post on Competitive Strategies today I figured cooperative strategies would be a suitable topic to discuss. Although in a way cooperative strategies can still be a form of competition if for instance you are using it to gain an advantage over larger web businesses in the industry, which for many is a good reason to form an alliance.
A few other reasons why a teaming up may be a good idea is to gain access to more clients and specifics markets, to share technology, to save time, combine skills and strategies, and ideally to obtain greater profits.
I consider there to be two main types of cooperative arrangements, these being value-chain partnerships and one which I have discussed before which is joint venture partnerships.
Competitive Web Business Strategies
Today I thought I would share a few competitive strategies that can be adopted to either offensively or defensively go against the competition in the online world. Whether or not you like competition, it does exist, and with the incredible ease and attraction of an online business you could imagine that there is a lot there. Plus it can be done all in good fun… to keep things interesting.
Offensive – Frontal Assault
This is the most aggressive competitive strategy, it involves going against the competitor head to head. This is where you match your competition in most aspects of the business from product pricing to promotional methods to distribution channels. Success with this type of strategy usually involves the attacker to have greater resources as this can be a rather costly tactic and you must be the willing to be persistent.
An example of this strategy being used is when Barnes and Noble reacted to Amazon.com entering the online bookselling business.

How to Get Free Unique Quality Content
Writing content or even buying content is often a big deterrence from many people in the online world. Yet content is often the most important factor of many web business models, such as blogs for example. So wouldn’t it be absolutely great if you could get unique quality content for free?
It really isn’t that difficult and you will actually find that many of the most popular content driven websites use this method quite often.
How to Get Free Quality Content
When I say free quality content, I mean it – this literally will not cost you a cent. However, with this method you will need to be willing to offer some online currency in the form of a backlink. Yes that is all, people will write quality content for you if all you provide them with is a backlink. Although, what it also does is provides more exposure to them and their website, which means that they are benefiting from the trade-off as well.
